Dashes or no live data on a card

iOSAndroidWeb

A card shows dashes (—), looks greyed out, reads 0, or the numbers seem old. These all mean different things — here's how to tell them apart.

Checklist

  1. Dashes (—) = no data right now. The app isn't receiving a reading — usually no connection to the device, or the device isn't sending that value at the moment. Fix the connection first (see The app can't connect to my boat).
  2. Greyed-out card = that sensor isn't on your boat. The app couldn't find that instrument. That's not a fault — it just means the sensor isn't installed or detected.
  3. A reading of 0 is a real value. Zero is a genuine live measurement (for example, solar power at night), not an error.
  4. Just wired a new sensor? Give it up to an hour. The device rescans for new instruments on a schedule, so a newly added sensor can take up to about an hour to show up.
  5. Web showing old numbers? The web dashboard mirrors a snapshot that refreshes roughly hourly (and pauses when the boat is in offshore mode) — it's never live. Use Sync Now, or open the app for current data.

Note: Dashes plus an "offline" device usually point to a connection or power problem — check Device shows offline.
