The app can't connect to my boat

iOSAndroid

Your dashboard won't load live data, keeps spinning, or says it can't reach your boat. Work down this list — most cases are a network mismatch, not a broken device.

Checklist

  1. On the boat? Join the boat's WiFi. The app looks for your GOAT device on the local network first, so your phone must be on the same WiFi as the device.
  2. Away from the boat? You need Remote Access. Away-from-boat viewing requires Remote Access turned on and a working internet connection on both your phone and the boat. See Access your boat when away.
  3. Everyone's remote is down but local works? It's us, not you. A fleet-wide remote outage while on-boat local access still works is a service issue on our side — your device is fine. Wait it out.
  4. Give the device a minute. If it just powered up, rebooted, or is updating, it can take a minute or two before it answers.
  5. Pull to refresh. If the boat's network changed, the device's address may have moved; pull down on the dashboard (or reopen the app) to let it re-find the device.
  6. No boat WiFi? Use Direct Connect. If the device is in Direct Connect Mode, join its own SVGOAT-XXXX hotspot to reach it.

Note: The web dashboard never connects to your device directly — it shows a periodic snapshot. Use the app for live, on-boat data.
