My device shows offline
iOSAndroid
Your GOAT device shows offline or "last seen" a while ago. Usually it's power, WiFi, or just an offshore check-in gap.
Checklist
- Check power. Make sure the device is powered: check the boat's breaker or power switch. No power, no check-in.
- Check WiFi. The device may have lost its network. If the boat's WiFi name or password changed, reconnect the device to WiFi.
- Everyone down but local works? It's us. If remote access is down across the whole fleet while on-boat local still works, it's a service issue on our side, not your device.
- Offshore mode? "30 minutes ago" is normal. In offshore mode the device checks in only about every 30 minutes to save satellite data, so a stale "last seen" is expected.
- Just rebooted or updating? Give it a couple of minutes to come back online.
- Still offline → reboot it. Power-cycle or reboot the device (see Reboot your device).
"[Boat name] has lost its internet"
This notification means the boat can't reach the internet, so its alarms can't reach you until it's back.
- From your phone: during an anchor watch, your phone shows it once when your phone is online but can't get through to the boat.
- From the server: if your GOAT device hasn't reported for over 30 minutes while an anchor watch is armed or a wind alarm is set, the server sends the same notice. It isn't sent while offshore mode is on.
- It's a standard notification with one button, Open. It doesn't break through Do Not Disturb or Focus, and quiet hours hold it until they end.
- To turn off the server's notice, use Settings → Notifications → Boat offline.
When the boat is back, work through the checklist above if it happens again.
Note: The device keeps running its anchor and alarm checks locally even while it shows offline. "Offline" means it can't reach the internet, not that it stopped working. Its alerts can't reach you until it reconnects.
