I'm not getting alerts
iOSAndroidSafety
Safety-critical
This affects a safety feature. Read carefully and confirm the behavior on your own boat.
You expected a notification and it never arrived. Walk this list.
Checklist
- Alerts away from the boat need internet on BOTH ends. Your phone and the boat both need a connection. In offshore mode the boat checks in far less often, so away pushes may not arrive.
- Turn push on. Enable push alerts in the app and allow notifications in your phone's system settings.
- Were alerts stopped on this phone? On the anchor screen, Alerts stopped on this phone means this phone was silenced for the current watch. Tap Resume alerts on this phone.
- Check your switches. In Settings → Notifications, a switch you turned off won't notify. If the anchor screen shows DRAG ALERTS ARE OFF, the Anchor & safety switches for that boat are off.
- Do Not Disturb or Focus. Standard notifications, including [Boat name] has lost its internet, don't break through Do Not Disturb or Focus.
- Quiet hours. Warning-level alerts, like low battery, Boat GPS lost or has lost its internet, are held until quiet hours end. Critical alerts, like anchor dragging or high wind, come through anyway.
- Android: exclude the app from battery optimization. Android's battery saver can silently drop notifications. Allow the app to run unrestricted in the background.
- A shared boat? Pushes from the GOAT device go to the boat's owner only.
Warning: Push delivery is best-effort and can be delayed or dropped by your phone's system. Never rely on it as your only safety net. The anchor watch running on your phone is the primary anchor alarm.
