Why am I not getting alerts?

iOSAndroid

If alerts aren't reaching your phone, work through this checklist from the top.

Checklist

  1. Notifications allowed? Check that notifications are turned on for SV.GOAT in your phone's system settings.
  2. Switch on? In Settings → Notifications, check the switch for that kind of alert. If the anchor screen shows DRAG ALERTS ARE OFF, the Anchor & safety switches for that boat are off.
  3. Alerts stopped on this phone? If the anchor screen shows Alerts stopped on this phone, tap Resume alerts on this phone. Stopping affects only this phone and this boat.
  4. Internet on both ends? Away-from-boat alerts need the GOAT device online and your phone online. With no internet there's no push.
  5. Do Not Disturb or Focus? Standard notifications, including [Boat name] has lost its internet, don't break through Do Not Disturb or Focus.
  6. Quiet hours? A non-critical alert during quiet hours is held until the window ends. Critical alerts still come through.
  7. Android battery optimization? On Android, turn off battery optimization for SV.GOAT so the system doesn't stop background alerts.
  8. Your boat or a shared one? Pushes from the GOAT device go to the boat's owner. Guests on a shared boat don't receive them.

Warning: Aggressive Android battery savers are the most common cause of missing or delayed alerts. Excluding SV.GOAT from battery optimization usually fixes it.

Note: The phone running the anchor watch alarms even with no internet and no push, as long as its alerts aren't stopped.
