Snooze, quiet hours, and what can't be silenced

Safety-critical

This affects a safety feature. Read carefully and confirm the behavior on your own boat.

You can quiet a routine alert for a while without losing track of it. The anchor alarm can never be snoozed.

Snoozing an alert

Snooze works in the SV.GOAT app on your phone or tablet. When an alert banner appears, tap Snooze. A panel opens where you make two choices:

  1. How much worse it can get before it alerts again. For an alert with a reading, such as wind, depth, battery or a tank, pick one of up to three levels under Alert me again above (or below). The middle level is already selected. The levels count from your alert level, in the direction that is getting worse:
    • Wind: 3, 5 or 10 knots stronger
    • Depth: 0.5, 1 or 2 metres shallower
    • Battery charge: 5, 10 or 20 percent lower
    • Anything else: 10, 25 or 50 percent of your alert level
  2. How long. Under And remind me after, pick 1 h, 4 h (already selected) or Next 08:00.

If the reading has already passed a level, that level isn't offered. Some alerts have no reading, such as a lost connection or a storm warning. Those just stay quiet for the time you pick.

Tap Snooze to confirm. To cancel, swipe the panel away. While the panel is open, the siren stays quiet for up to a minute so you have time to choose.

While an alert is snoozed

  • The red banner is replaced by a slim amber strip, for example High Wind snoozed, alerts above 20 kn · until 19:00. Tap Undo to cancel the snooze. If the alert is still active, it comes straight back.
  • If the reading gets worse than the level you picked, the alarm sounds again and the banner says GETTING WORSE.
  • When the time is up, your normal alert level applies again. If the reading is still out of range, the alert comes back.
  • If the reading is back to normal for 2 minutes, the snooze ends on its own.
  • If you change an alert's settings and save it switched on, its snooze is cancelled. The alert starts checking again straight away.

Where a snooze applies

  • This phone or tablet only. A snooze doesn't reach your other devices, the web dashboard, or anyone you share the boat with. It doesn't change any alert your GOAT device sends either.
  • This boat only. A snooze belongs to the boat it was set on and never quiets the same alert on another boat.
  • Not on the web. The web dashboard has no snooze.

Snoozing from a notification

  • iPhone and iPad: alert notifications have a Snooze button. A notification can't show the panel, so the button uses the default choices: the middle level for 4 hours. If the snooze runs its full time, a notification tells you the snooze is over. Open SV.GOAT to check the reading.
  • Android: alert notifications don't have a Snooze button. Open the app and use the banner. There is no "snooze is over" notification on Android. While SV.GOAT is running in the background it keeps checking, and it alerts you again if needed.

Quiet hours (web)

Quiet hours are set on the web dashboard (svgoat.app), under Settings → Notifications. Pick a start and end time to suppress non-critical alerts during those hours, so you're not woken for something that can wait. There's no quiet-hours control in the app itself.

What can't be silenced

  • The anchor alarm can't be snoozed. If your boat drags, it will alarm. When only an anchor alert is active, the Snooze button is locked, and the snooze panel closes by itself if the anchor alarm goes off.
  • Quiet till back in signal and Keep telling me appear only on the no signal to the boat notice. They quiet that notice, never a drag alarm. See How drag detection works.
  • To silence one phone for a whole anchor watch, use Stop alerts on this phone on the anchor screen. The boat stays armed. See Stop the anchor alarm.
  • In the app's Settings → Notifications, the Anchor & safety switches turn off the anchor notifications your GOAT device sends for one boat. While they're off, the anchor screen shows DRAG ALERTS ARE OFF. Arming more than 150 m from the last anchor turns them back on. The phone running the watch still raises its own drag alarm.

Warning: These are safety alarms by design. A routine alert may be snoozed or wait, but an anchor-drag alarm is never snoozed. Quiet only pauses it: if the boat is still dragging, it sounds again.
