Device updates (automatic)
iOSAndroidWeb
Your GOAT device keeps itself up to date automatically. There is no update button — you don't have to do anything.
How it works
- The device checks for new updates on its own, roughly every 15 minutes while it has a normal internet connection.
- In offshore mode, it checks much less often — about every 6 hours — to save data. So a new update may wait until you're back on a regular connection. See Offshore mode.
- When an update is available, the device downloads and installs it in the background. This usually takes a few minutes and doesn't need you to be nearby.
- If an update doesn't come up cleanly, the device automatically rolls back to the version it was running before, so it won't be left broken.
Note: Because updates roll out gradually and depend on the device's connection, not every device gets a given update at the same moment. To see which version yours is on, see Check device status.
Note: If a device is cut off with no internet for a long time, it can't receive automatic updates. You can update it in person from a USB stick instead — see Update a cut-off device by USB.
