Connect the app to your device

Once your GOAT device is set up, the app connects to it automatically — you don't pick a connection method. It finds the fastest available path and remembers what worked.
How it works
The app tries three ways to reach your device, in this order:
- Same WiFi (fastest) — when your phone is on the same network as the device aboard.
- Remote link — your boat's secure remote link, so you can check in from anywhere. It must be turned on by the owner.
- Direct Connect — connecting straight to the device's own SVGOAT-XXXX hotspot when there's no shared network.
The first one that succeeds wins, and the app reuses it next time.
Note: On Direct Connect there is no remote access — you're talking to the device directly, with no internet through it.
Note: If it can't connect, the app re-checks the device's address (which can change when your network reassigns it) and retries.
