How your GOAT device and the app move between your boat WiFi and the device's own hotspot.
On the device
Switch between joining boat WiFi and staying on its own hotspot with the Direct Connect Mode toggle in Settings → GOAT Device → Device Management (owner only):
- WiFi mode (toggle off) — the device joins your saved boat network(s); remote access is possible.
- Direct Connect (toggle on) — the device stays on its SVGOAT-XXXX hotspot; local only, no remote link.
In the app
You don't switch manually. Each time it connects, the app automatically picks the best available path — same WiFi first, then the boat's secure remote link, then the device's hotspot — and remembers what worked.
Note: Keep Location on so the app can use the device's hotspot when needed.
