The device hotspot & Direct Connect Mode
Every GOAT device broadcasts its own WiFi hotspot named SVGOAT-XXXX (the last 4 characters are unique to your device). It's used for setup, and for Direct Connect Mode when your boat has no WiFi.
During setup
Turn on Location, tap Scan for Device Hotspots (on iOS, Connect to Device), and join SVGOAT-XXXX. During the in-app wizard the app supplies the hotspot password (svgoat123) for you on both platforms — you only type it if you connect manually from your phone's WiFi settings.
Direct Connect Mode
If your boat has no WiFi, tick Use Direct Connect Mode during setup — or switch to it later with the Direct Connect Mode toggle in Settings → GOAT Device → Device Management. The device keeps its own hotspot and your phone connects straight to it.
Warning: On Direct Connect there is no remote access — you can only see the boat while your phone is joined to the device's hotspot, and there's no internet through it.
Note: Location must stay on for your phone to scan for and join the hotspot.
