Total miles & baseline

iOSAndroidWeb

Your total miles is one canonical figure: baseline + tracked miles. Every screen — the app and the web dashboard — shows the same number.

How it works

  • Baseline (shown as Historical) = the miles your boat sailed before the app. The owner sets and edits this; it survives instrument and device swaps.
  • Tracked (shown as App Tracked) = the miles the app has recorded from your voyages. This is calculated on the server from your track, so it can't be hand-edited.
  • Total = baseline + tracked, shown as the big "Total Nautical Miles" figure on your Sailor's CV card.

Set or edit the baseline

  1. Open More › Sailing Log and switch to the Total view.
  2. Tap the pencil / Edit baseline control (owner only — guests don't see it).
  3. Enter your pre-app miles and save.

Note: If your total looks "stuck," it's waiting to sync. The app shows the last known figure offline and updates the canonical number when it reconnects — it never recalculates a different total on its own. You can force a sync any time with the cloud-upload icon in the Sailor's CV card header.
