What's backed up (and what isn't)
SV.GOAT keeps two different kinds of data safe in two different ways. Knowing which is which tells you what will still be there after you reinstall the app or switch phones.
How it works
Your boat details sync automatically. Everything you enter about a boat — name, specs, tank setup, network settings — is saved to the cloud as you edit it, field by field. If you edit the same boat on two phones, the most recently edited value of each field wins, so nothing gets clobbered. Because this is automatic, your boats and their settings come straight back when you sign in on a new phone or reinstall the app. You never have to back them up by hand.
Card alarms: wind, depth, main-battery and tank alarms are saved with your account; other card alarms stay on the phone.
Your voyages and tracks back up on demand. Your recorded voyages and their track points are saved to the cloud when you run Cloud Backup, and pulled back down with Restore from Cloud. This is owner-only — only the boat's owner can back up or restore. See Back up now and Restore from Cloud.
Photos stay on your phone — they are NOT backed up. Journey photos and photo pins live only in your phone's photo library, tagged to the boat. They are never uploaded to the cloud, never shared with guests, and will not appear on a new phone. If you move phones, re-add them from the map's photo gallery.
Note: Guests can view a shared boat but can't back up or restore its voyages — those actions are owner-only.
